To winterize or not the winterize, that is the question.
Camping can be unpredictable. If you do any type of camping you already know that. Last year I book 4 trips for my family and while they were technically in “winter” you never know what winter will bring in east Texas. Typically we have mild winters, but you never know what you’ll be hit with a snow-pocalypse. The Trips. The first trip we took was to Beavers Bend State Park in Oklahoma. If you haven’t been there I highly recommend it! Anywho, it was cold. As in 34º at 6 PM, which is cold for us. The second trip was to Tyler State Park for a Christmas light park, and…

How to beat the heat this summer! Travel Trailer Edition
Summer in a travel trailer can be brutal. Last year we took a trip in May when it was only 85°F outside and we were cooking. I knew if we didn’t figure out ways to beat the heat soon we’d be up a creek in July when visiting the beach. I looked at what some of the full-timers were doing and made it more Mallory-friendly. Check below to see how we were beating the Texas heat during a drought! A snug fit! First, let’s start with covering those skylights. I found these reflective skylight covers with added insulation that fit right in! And as a bonus, they stay put. We…

New to camping? Read this!
What if…? Two years ago, my husband and I decided we were going to build a house. Yes, in the height of lumber prices skyrocketing, $4/gallon gas (in Texas) and roofing shingles quite literally going through the roof, we decided to build a house. Our smartest move? Well, you’ll see. Now I’d like to make a disclaimer here: I was dead set against living in a travel trailer. He has been trying to convince me for years to buy a travel trailer. I’m more of a hotel and VRBO girl. After running the numbers and seeing how much rent would be I reluctantly agreed that buying something to live in…

Burned Out Momma Recharge (Perfect for late at night!)
Have you had one of those days… weeks… months… years? For me it has been one of those weeks. Busy schedules, sick kids, covid is still throwing a wrench into plans. We should be used to that by now, right? Wrong. Anywho, it’s been a day. You’re burned out, running on fumes and don’t know how you’re holding it together, but by some miracle you are. You have to. You’re mom. And possibly dad, too. Lately, I’ve been straddling the both line, not sure how you single moms do it- y’all are straight up SUPERHEROES. So you’re wanting to cry, pull your hair out or just run away? Let me…
